INDIANAPOLIS — Danny Granger scored 25 points to help the Indiana Pacers defeat the Orlando Magic 105-87 on Tuesday night and clinch their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series 4-1. It was Indiana’s first series win since 2005 and its first clincher on its home court since the first round of the 2000 playoffs. The Pacers will play Miami or New York in the second round

The Charlotte Bobcats were scheduled to interview Cleveland Cavaliers assistant Nate Tibbetts for their head coaching job Monday and Orlando Magic assistant Patrick Ewing comes in later this week. But a hire appears far from imminent. President of basketball operations Rod Higgins said Monday hes taking a nice, slow pace to make sure they consider everyone worthwhile.

NDIANAPOLIS — The Orlando Magic have completed one of the most bizarre seasons in franchise history, a season that essentially began with the sudden “retirement” of CEO Bob Vander Weide and ended Tuesday night with a 105-87 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the teams’ first-round playoff series. This offseason could be every bit as tumultuous.
