Miami Heat Burns Orlando Magic 90-78: Fan Reaction

The Miami Heat continued their impressive play on Feb. 19, defeating the Orlando Magic 90-78. With the win, the Heat move up to the top spot in the NBA’s Eastern Conference standings, leading the Chicago Bulls by half a game.

The game started off competitively, but the Heat started creating some space in the second quarter, taking a 12 point lead into halftime. The Heat continued their dominance in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 16 points. The Magic did try to get back in the game in the fourth quarter, but they just weren’t able to do enough.

“We want to make sure that we’re keeping things in perspective,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters after the game. “We’re staying humble and understanding that NBA adage—you’re never quite as good as you think you are when you’re winning and you’re never quite as bad as you think you are when you’re losing.”

Dwyane Wade led the Heat against Orlando, finishing with 27 points and 6 rebounds. LeBron James had a pretty strong outing as well, putting up 25 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists.

“This can’t be [our] top gear right now,” Wade told reporters. “We want to go to another gear, and then another gear. Our next gear will be tuning up for the playoffs. Next gear after that will be playoffs. We know we still have ways we can get better.”

Udonis Haslem gave the Heat a nice boost coming off the bench, finishing with 10 points and 5 rebounds against the Magic. Chris Bosh didn’t have his best shooting night, but he still finished with 8 points and 9 rebounds.

The Heat will get some much needed rest before hosting the Sacramento Kings at the American Airlines Arena on Feb. 21. The Kings are currently 3-16 on the road, and the Heat shouldn’t have any problems increasing their winning streak to seven games.
